The start of the 2022 NFL season begins this week and early indications are the Buffalo Bills are the real deal! They started the season with a resounding win over the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. And they are being lead by the newest rising star in the league, Josh Allen. He has developed into a franchise QB in his fifth season after being selected #1 (seventh pick overall) by the Bills out of little known Wyoming in the 2018 draft. He was not a popular pick by Buffalo fans, but they are loving the pick now! They have not had a franchise leader at the QB position since Jim Kelly took the team to four straight Super Bowls in the 80′s. We know that they were the best team to never have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy with players like Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed and of course Kelly. Losing four straight is the stigma the Bills have to shake and it appears they have a team that can do it. With the addition of future Hall of Famer Von Miller to an already solid defense, they are the clear favorite to give the city of Buffalo their long awaited championship. But they still have to prove they can beat the other elite QB’s such as Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson, all who have a SB ring(s) to their credit. That is not a foregone conclusion, but Allen has the fire buring inside to secure his legacy in the city of Buffalo. It is HIS team. Certainly a lot of pressure, but he appears up to the task to appease the Bills Mafia, the newly adopted reference to the long suffering Bills fanbase. The only sad thing is Ralph Wilson, the long time owner and founder of the franchise who passed away in 2014, won’t be here to witness it. But if Allen can bring the title to the city of Buffalo, Wilson will be looking down and know that his dream has finally come true. A long way to get there, but the Bills seem to have their GPS set to get on the right road with the trophy at the end! We shall see.
